First Week Teaching Practice

                     First Week Teaching Practice

                       14/07/2025-18/07/2025

Our first week of teaching practice at Govt Jawahar HSS Ayoor, which took place from July 14, 2025, to July 18, 2025, was an enriching experience. As part of the Physical Science department, my teammate Alaka and I reported to school at 9:15 am and handed over the attendance register to HM and signed the register and allotted seat for us to sit and then we met us our mentor teacher, Honey Miss, who briefed us on our duties and distributed class portions. Then we were got familiar with the school's layout and facilities.

Throughout the week, we explored the school's surroundings and got to know the staff and students better. During our free periods, we took the opportunity to observe other classes and learn from experienced teachers.

In terms of teaching, I had the chance to handle various classes. On July 14, I taught 8th standard students about "Reference Object" from the chapter "Motion and Forces" and had a substitution period with 9B. On July 15, I taught 9B about the Periodic Table in Chemistry. The next day, I had a class with 9A on the same topic and also provided extra support to students
struggling with reading during lunch break. On July 17, I taught 8A and had a substitution period with 8B.

On the final day, July 18, a student strike resulted in no students attending school. We utilized this time to meet with the Headmistress, discussing our duties and preparing the annual calendar. This interaction helped us understand the administrative side of school management.

This first week of teaching practice has been invaluable, allowing us to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting. We gained insights into classroom management, lesson planning, and student interaction. We're grateful for the support and guidance provided by our mentor teacher and the school administration. The experience has not only honed our teaching skills but also given us a deeper understanding of the school's culture and community.
